BUENOS AIRES, July 17 (Xinhua) -- Juan Fernando Quintero is poised to rejoin former club River Plate from America de Cali, according to widespread media reports.

Quintero is contracted to America until December 2027 but River has agreed to meet the Colombian club's release terms, TyC Sports reported on Thursday.

The 32-year-old is expected to arrive in Buenos Aires on Thursday to undergo a medical and sign an 18-month contract, it added.

Quintero has had two previous spells at River: from 2018 to 2020 and in 2022. He was a key member of the River side that won the 2018 Copa Libertadores, scoring a late goal in the final against rivals Boca Juniors.

The Colombia international playmaker made 21 appearances for America - scoring three goals and providing five assists - following his January move from Argentina's Racing. ■
